Language Requirements
Japanese Proficiency
Undergraduate level: Since most of the lecture courses are taught in Japanese and only a few lecture courses are taught in English for undergraduate level students, you must have JLPT1 or the equivalent level of Japanese skills. (If you do not have a JLPT1 certificate, you must demonstrate your JLPT1 level on the Certificate of Japanese Proficiency. See Documents to Prepare and Submit in the left-side navigation menu.)
★
Very Very Important★
Undergraduate level students are NOT allowed to take any Garaduate level courses. NO EXCEPTIONS!! So, if you know that there are not enough classes you could take in Undergraduate level because you are not fluent in Japanese, please postpone your study abroad till you enter Master's level.
Graduate level: No Japanese knowledge is necessary, although it is helpful to know some basic Japanese to communicate in your daily life. (You still need to fill out the Certificate of Japanese Proficiency. See Documents to Prepare and Submit in the left-side navigation menu.)
English proficiency
You are not required to submit any confirmation of English proficiency since we consider that you have sufficient knowledge of English to communicate, to take lecture courses held in English, and to work in your lab.
Therefore, submission of TOEFL and/or IELTS scores is optional. Submission of your score online will not affect the professors when they exam your application documents for acceptance.
